A homophone is one of two or more words that are pronounced the same, but differ in meaning, derivation, or spelling. Examples include:
- Air, heir
- To, too, two
- Bale, bail

- Bore, boar
Homographs
A homograph is one of two or more words that are spelled alike, but differ in meaning, and derivation. They may or may not have the same pronunciation. Examples include:
- Bow of a ship, bow and arrow
- The verb to object, the noun object
- Dove cooing, dove into the water
- He does not shoot does.
